We’re delighted that you are considering making an application for this exciting role. It’s a wonderful chance to play your part in an organisation that holds a very special place in the heart of all those concerned with animal welfare, both across the UK and beyond.
The RSPCA has been at the forefront of animal welfare for 195 years and the charity has committed to modernising to ensure it can continue to be there for all animals long into the future. We investigate nearly 150,000 cases of alleged animal cruelty every year, helping to prevent continued suffering for, and improve the lives of, many thousands of animals. In recent years, we’ve also made meaningful progress in addressing the relationship between the abuse of family and animals; a connection first identified by William Wilberforce, one of our founders.
Today, we are more than a charity: we are a social movement, with a passionately committed workforce of nearly 1700; 153 affiliated branches across England and Wales; turnover of around £142m and assets of over £200m. In such a complex, high-profile and geographically extensive organisation, high-quality field operations are vital. We need to be operating at the highest levels of performance, with a shared and uncompromising focus on consistency and improvement.
We are looking for a new Director of Field Operations to continue our work of making the RSPCA the very best animal welfare charity, anywhere in the world. The role will be critical to developing best-in-class systems, procedures, structures and approaches which will in turn enable us to help more animals, every day.
Together, we’ll continue to work for a world in which animals are respected and treated with compassion; in which cruelty is prevented, and suffering alleviated.
I look forward to receiving your application.
